Two corrections to the minutes - Elizabeth and Ken were not present at the May meeting .

The minutes were approved as corrected.

Mike will give Elizabeth the briefcase belonging to the Secretary.

A current copy of Robert’s Rules of Order was supplied for the Secretary.

Treasurer

Balance as of June 10 $3,805.10. Acceptance of the report moved by Mike and seconded by George. Passed

As of June the Library is not charging for the room. We are booked for the year.
It was suggested that a donation of Herb’s memorial fund be considered a donation to the Library for this year. An amount of $500.00 was suggested.

It was agreed the computer equipment should be inventoried.

Membership

We have 30 memberships. 18 were at the meeting.

Where we used to count family members as 1 member, under the new rules we will count, within a family group, 1 Regular member and each of the family members.

Newsletter

The information for Don is to be sent in either Word or Word Perfect. Articles should be brought to the Executive Meeting.

Webmaster

Paul will take all personal emails off the site and provide auto forward from the executives names. This will prevent spam to the members.

Links to the by-laws and the constitution have been provided in the navigation bar.

A photograph of the Library has been added to the site, also the Library has been added to the sponsor page plus a link to the Library site.

PC SIG

The demo of the hard drive was a success. Mike is working on how to get the lighting and the camera to work properly when showing the action on the screen. It was remarked we need a brighter projector! He hopes Sean my do a program on ripping CD’s to make MP3's. August may be a trade night - swap computer stuff, and Q&A. There was also a suggestion on a presentation on how to set up e-mail filters.

Digital Imaging SIG

Report of the Digital Imaging SIG -June 8, 2004

Held at the home of Elizabeth Gillan. Nine members were present. The meeting began at 7.30 with 0 present. Mike brought his friend Richard who brought and demonstrated a Canon SLR digital camera. It will accept regular Canon lenses, as well as its regular lens designed specifically for it.

Paul demonstrated with scanner and laptop how to scan old black and white glass coated negatives. By using colour in scanning, it was possible to get a higher resolution and then revert to black and white.

Mike showed some pictures using his camera connected to the TV and explained that using 400 ISO setting on his digital produced very poor resolution compared with 100 or 50. 50 ISO was best.

Elizabeth mentioned having had a talk on archiving pictures. The best way to be sure to keep coloured pictures is to have them on disk and keep updating you information as new storage mediums arrive. Also there is a place in Bayfield Mall called Extreme Imaging which will professionally restore and recopy pictures to archival quality.
Alva and Richard showed pictures on Paul’s laptop.

It was decided not to have a July meeting. Tentatively the meeting on Tuesday, August 10 will be a photo taking session. We thought we would meet earlier at either 6.30 or 7.00 o’clock and take pictures. We are then invited to go Back to Alvas. Confirmation of the meeting will be send to the members.

Video SIG

Ken reported that the last meeting had to be cancelled due to other commitments of the members. The computer clean-up has been transferred to a VHS cassette and is circulating among the members. He is hoping more will be added to it.

The next meeting is to be the third Thursday in June - place to be announced.
