Dave again reminded us that some members of the executive have not turned in their property list.

Membership Report
George sent in his report that we have 28 members.
There were 20 members and one visitor at the September meeting.

Publicity
Alva put the announcement of our meeting in several papers:
The Examiner; Focus 50 plus; the North Simcoe News etc.
She put it on BIO5 web site; the Barrie Library (has to be done each month); and the City of Barrie.

She has a poster prepared with a space for information on the Club.
She suggests putting one in Victoria Village, Senior Centres, perhaps the bulletin boards at the Mall, and bulletin board at Zehrs.

Newsletter
Don hopes to have a newsletter ready for November.

Webmaster
Paul put a statistical report on the Web site. Usage of the site is going up and up. It has 12,000 hits a month. Our membership form was downloaded six times. There are 112 pages on the site. The Recipes still get the most hits!

PC Sig
Paul will put the programs on our web site.

There is to be a speaker in November on the subject of voice over the internet protocol (VOIP) using a wireless connect.

In December a program on computer and digital accessories (cameras, mp3, etc.) is a possibility.

Digital Sig
There were 12 people at the October meeting.
Charlie Carswell, Elizabeth’s brother, gave a presentation on “Colour in Your Life” . It was informative and entertaining.

Dave filmed the presentation

Those who did not show a “Whacky” slide show at the September meeting might show them at the November meeting, as there was not time in October.

Paul has offered to give a presentation on using the video on your digital camera.

Elizabeth will approach Henry’s to come and give a talk on cameras and accessories.

Elizabeth reported the Georgian Room has been reserved until next June.

Video Sig
The group is to meet on the third Thursday of October at Dave’s office.

They compared Pinnacle Studio 10 and the new Adobe Premier Elements at the September meeting and agreed Premier Elements is superior.

The group is looking into producing short videos of the questions asked at the Club meetings.
These could be put on the web and on CD’s.

Business arising from the Minutes
N/A

New Business
Brian is to give a presentation on England using Power Point to a group at the Library. It will be in the Angus Ross Room at 7.00 pm Wednesday October 18th.

Bob Thompson, a club member, has asked to borrow the projector for a presentation at the Mclaren Art Gallery. After considerable discussion the following decision was made.

Moved by Paul that the projector can be used for other than club activities with the following conditions:

1) At least one BUG executive member designated by the executive has control of the projector at all times.
- Brian and I will bring it, set it up and take it away after the presentation.
- we don't have to be there full the full event, only when the projector is required.

2) There is some promotional benefit to the club
- Paul will have a sign and we would appreciate an announcement that the Barrie Users Group provided the projector in return for a small donation.

3) There will be some remuneration expected, but at a reduced rate do to the promotional considerations in point 2.
- The executive will set that rate depending on the circumstances.
- In this case we would appreciate a donation of $100 to the Barrie Users Group.

Seconded by Alva. Passed

We had an email from Diane Clarke suggesting we might sponsor a month in the calendar supporting their Dog Program.
BUG might do the month of June.
It might be $200.00 for a month.
Depending on the rate we would consider it. Dave will talk to Mike.

Paul suggested the DI Group might work with the club to produce a calendar for sale to the members.
Elizabeth will canvas the members for pictures.
We can then decide how to proceed with the calendar if she is successful.
We should also consider a file of pictures for the web site.

Several members are planning to attend the Digital Imaging Show put on by Henry’s at the International Centre October 13, 14 and 15 2006.

Adjournment
At 9.20 pm a motion to adjourn was made by Dave and seconded by Alva. Passed.
