Business
arising from the Minutes
Elizabeth thanked Brian and Barbara on behalf of the executive for hosting
the BUG BBQ at their home. It was a delightful afternoon.
Brian reported he has booked the Library until June. In spite of having
to use the Georgian Room much of the time, it was felt the prices of other
available rooms were too much for the group to afford. We are looking
into internet access. (see below.)
It was suggested that the Super 8, which had the best price, might provide
a venue for our Anniversary Computer Show.
Brian reminded us that as New Year’s Day is on a Tuesday, our January
meeting will be on Wednesday, January 2nd and will be in the Angus Ross
Room.
New
Business
Ray reported that there has been a problem with
a virus on Skype.
Brian will be away for the next two BUG meetings and asked if someone
would do the coffee. Melvina offered to do it in November and Dave took
charge of the food box.
Melvina and Kathleen Lewis arrived near the end of the meeting.
Kathleen has been researching the equipment needed to give us access to
the internet at our meetings. She borrowed the equipment necessary from
Bell and it was tried out at the DI SIG meeting. It worked very well.
There are two levels available from Bell at $40.00 and $60.00. It is $79.00
to purchase the modem, which just plugs into an outlet. Rogers offers
it for less apparently. There is another source Kathleen is investigating.
The Executive is in favour of investigating the possibility of investing
in one of these systems. Someone will have to be responsible for it as
it is only provided for an individual.
Adjournment
At 8.40 pm Ray moved the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Brian.
Passed.
