Special Interest Groups These are subgroups of BUG. They meet on different nights and many members go to more than one as they are all included in one BUG membership. In the summer of 1983, a handful of computer enthusiasts met informally to share their knowledge about the new line of home computers (Commodore VIC-20 and PET). As the word about the group spread, the number of participants grew and a larger meeting place was needed. In September of 1983, the group formed the Barrie Users Group (BUG) and met in various Barrie locations over the years. In the late 1980’s to the mid 1990’s, this group grew in size to 100 plus members. The Commodore C-64, C-128, Amiga and Commodore PC clones had all been supported until the late 1990’s after which the PC computer and all its peripherals were supported. Today, our members meet at the Barrie Public Library and enjoy the added benefit of demonstrations of anything PC or anything related. The interest in Digital cameras and Video cameras has spawned two Special Interest Groups (SIG’s) within BUG, the DISIG and the DV-SIG.
